2016 Reveal: Event-Exclusive Keepsake Ornaments and itty bittys®
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 11, 2016) – Hallmark steps up its participation this year at the nation’s largest pop culture fan gatherings with a grouping of products and collectibles developed exclusively for events starting this summer.
Three exclusive Hallmark Keepsake Ornament designs, a pair of itty bittys® plush, and the first-ever Hallmark Squeelys vinyl collectible figure will be sold in limited quantities at Comic-Con International, to be held July 21-24 in San Diego, Calif.:
U.S.S. Enterprise, STAR TREK™ – Featuring dialogue and music directly from the original “Star Trek” TV Series, this Keepsake Ornament depicts the iconic starship as originally built and painted for special-effects filming. This is a repaint of a 2016 Keepsake Ornament celebrating Star Trek’s 50th anniversary.
Batman™ in Battle, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – This Keepsake Ornament created exclusively for event sales depicts the Caped Crusader’s armored uniform as seen in this year’s feature film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Beginnings: Boba Fett, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™ – Inspired by the work of renowned conceptual designer Ralph McQuarrie, this Keepsake Ornament two-pack features the fan-favorite bounty hunter who first appeared in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. One ornament details Boba Fett’s helmet as originally sketched while the other depicts an all-white full-costume concept.
Princess Leia and Jabba the Hutt, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™ – This exclusive itty bittys plush two-pack features the slug-like crime lord and his bikini-clad prisoner as seen in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
Batman™ ’66 Squeelys® – Convention-goers will get a first look at Squeelys, a new Hallmark-exclusive vinyl collectible line inspired by classic customized cars. While the full line of Squeelys will debut in Hallmark Gold Crown® stores and on Hallmark.com in August, an event-exclusive Batman and Batmobile will be available at the comics conventions.

2016 Mystery Ornaments – NO PEEKING!
Mary’s Angel Surprise—the very first angel in the beloved Mary’s Angels series has come back this year as the exclusive mystery ornament. Buttercup the angel has been repainted in either periwinkle or gold robe with golden wings. Will your box hold one of the truly golden angels? You’ll have to wait until you open the box to find out.

Buttercup has been repainted in either periwinkle or gold robe with golden wings.
NOTE: Each package contains either a repainted first-in-series Buttercup angel or (a limited version) of the same repainted ornament with a gold robe and golden wings.
Each ornament is placed in a non-see-through bag and then randomly boxed (using a single uniform box design) and sealed.
Consumers will only be able to discover which design they received after purchase. “All sales are final. No refunds, returns or exchanges.”
New Mystery Ornament – An ornament whose design is modified to create different variations and then packaged using a single uniform box design, thus creating a concealed random sample. In addition to having the Keepsake box sealed, the ornament is sealed in a non-see-through bag to prevent peeking! Each ornament is sealed in a box. Product packaging is marked, “All Sales Final. No refunds, returns or exchanges.”
ADDITIONAL HISTORICAL INFORMATION
During the 2011 Ornament Debut, Hallmark released a New Frosty Mystery Ornament blank painted in three different ways including Hawaiian Frosty (By Tom Best), Toymaker Frosty (By Ken Crow) and Kris’ Penguin Frosty (By Kristina Gaughran).
In 2012, the Frosty Mystery ornament returned with three new editions: Astronaut Frosty (By Tom Best), Winter Fairy (By Kristina Gaughran) and Frosty’s Sweet Ride (By Tammy Haddix).
A new set of Frosty Mystery ornaments by Tom Best including Germany Frosty, Queen’s Guard Frosty, and Cowboy Frosty were issued in 2013.
In 2014, there was a sweet twist. The Sweet Surprise Mystery Ornaments were a repaint of the 1st in the Christmas Cupcakes series from 2010.
In 2015, the Mystery Ornaments celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Fairy Messenger series with Fairy Surprise, a repaint of Poinsettia Fairy, the 1st in the Fairy Messengers series.
