Our friends at Peanuts® are turning 75, and these ornaments are ready to celebrate.

Hallmark and Peanuts® have been proud partners since 1960 when Charlie Brown and friends first appeared on greeting cards, just a decade after making their debut in newspapers. The gang first appeared on Keepsake Ornaments in 1977 and, year after year, ornaments remain our most popular Peanuts products.

“The fun of working on these characters is that they truly speak to the kid in all of us,” says Keepsake Artist Gregor Benedetti, who created the 75th Anniversary Special Edition ornament along with Artist Rich LaPierre.

The nostalgic glass ball design is an homage to the original ornament line from 1977. With a playful scene of Santa Snoopy and his reindeer, plus a white ribbon and an embossed metal anniversary charm, it’s a celebration of all the classic details that make Charles Schulz’s characters so timeless.

“When it comes to the Peanuts gang, it’s really important to us that our ornaments capture that sense of fun that fans love,” Art Director Charles Young says.

This year’s collection shows us all the adventures Charlie Brown and the gang have had over the years-from your favorite Christmas special to a sweet sno-cone machine. But Keepsake Artist Tammy Haddix knew the collection wouldn’t be complete without The Flying Ace.

“I worked with Adan Chung and our engineers to create this piece, which has four panels of artwork from the original comic strip. The panels fold out to reveal Snoopy on top of his red doghouse. And if you press the button you hear music from The Royal Guardsmen’s ‘Snoopy vs. the Red Baron,’ which is really fun!” Tammy says.

Along with the anniversary ornaments, this year’s collection also features a table decoration that brings to life the play scene from A Charlie Brown Christmas and the second in the Christmas Is… series by Keepsake Artist Tim Bishop, who’s been a fan since childhood.

“From early on, I remember my Pappy reading the paper, most often on Sunday mornings. He’d pull out the funnies for me, and I’d settle in at the table enjoying greats like Dennis the Menace, Blondie, Hi and Lois and, of course, Peanuts,” Tim says.

Tim’s latest ornament in the series stars an unlikely duo: Lucy and Snoopy. Fellow fans will know that these two don’t always get along, especially in the comic strips. But Tim says their playful fights and frustrations make those warm, fuzzy feelings just that much sweeter.

“Lucy and Snoopy show us that, in the spirit of Christmas, there’s no better time to care for each other and go in for a tight squeeze,” Tim says. “I’m excited to continue crafting this series and sharing all the joyful, heartwarming, cherishable moments that the Christmas season brings. Our Peanuts fans have a lot to look forward to!”
