While most recognized as a communications officer on the U.S.S. Enterprise. Nyota Uhura proved herself as skilled and dependable in performing a variety of functions on the starship’s bridge. Captain James T. Kirk frequently relied on her calm demeanor and sharp intellect for important missions away from the ship as well. In her off-duty hours, Uhura was well regarded among her Enterprise crewmates as an accomplished singer who took great pride in her African heritage.

One of the most versatile and reliable officers aboard the U.S.S Enterprise, Hikaru Sulu chiefly served on the bridge as helmsman, controlling the starship’s speed and relative position, as well as weapon and defense systems. He repeatedly proved himself to be a valuable resource to Captain Kirk as an expert in fields including botany, antique weapons, and judo. Lt. Sulu also demonstrated stalwart leadership whenever he took charge of landing parties or was assigned temporary command of the Enterprise.

Known affectionately as Scotty by those aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, Montgomery Scott earned the trust and respect of his fellow crewmen through his knowledge and expertise in every mechanical and technical aspects of the storied starship. Time and again, Captain James T. Kirk based his tactical decisions (and even staked his own life) on Scotty’s ingenuity and skills with warp drive, transporter, weapons, and defense systems. As esteemed and experienced officer, Mr. Scott’s service as Chief Engineer frequently extended to the bridge’s center seat as Second Officer of the Enterprise.

Despite humble insistence that he was a simple country doctor, Leonard H. McCoy proved himself time and again to be one of the most valued medical minds in all of Starfleet. Aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, Dr. McCoy was known as the Chief Medical Officer, with responsibilities for the operation of the starship’s sickbay as well as for the health and well-being of its crew. To Captain James T. Kirk, McCoy was much more, serving as the friend, adviser, and voice of conscience that Kirk affectionately nicknamed “Bones.”

As the first officer and science officer aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, the ever resourceful Spock was frequently pressed into service to explore strange new worlds. Captain James T. Kirk’s most trusted friend and adviser, Spock performed time and again as an invaluable member of the Enterprise crew. Yet privately, he struggled in his efforts to suppress the emotions of his half-human heritage in keeping with the ancient, logic-based techniques of his home planet, Vulcan.
