Madame Alexander

Sweet Irish Dancer

From her bouncy red curls to her toe-tapping black gillies, this “Sweet Irish Dancer” looks eager to do a jig! The velvety green dress suggests the rich fabric used in Irish dance costumes. Holiday Snowflake Skater

The ice is ready—and so is “Snowflake Skater”!  Off she glides in her shiny red skates adorned with fluffy pom-poms. Her beautifully detailed skating skirt glitters in a snowflake pattern. Winter white earmuffs and layers of petticoats keep her toasty warm as she joins her happy circle of friends for a morning of merry fun.

This ornament was inspired by the “Holiday Snowflake Skater” doll that debuted in the Madame Alexander® collection in 2001.

Victorian Christmas

Stories of Christmas in Victorian times bring to mind images of gala parties and elegant fashions. Luxurious fabrics, radiant colors, and exquisite ribbon and lace–each prized element of Victorian style is beautifully represented in this classic Madame Alexander® design. A further reminder of Victorian times is the candle the young lady carries, lighting her way to the holiday festivities in the parlor.

Another series of endearing Madame Alexander® designs appears in the Keepsake Ornament collection this year. Look for “Meg,” the first of Louisa May Alcott’s family of Little Women, at your Hallmark
retailer.

Cinderella-1995

As a little girl living above her father’s doll “hospital,” Madame Alexander (Beatrix Alexander Behrman) became fascinated with fashion dolls at an early age. With her three sisters, she began designing handmade cloth dolls in the 1920s. By the 1930s, she was creating composition dolls with painted features and sleep eyes.

“Cinderella-1995” is the latest of the many lovely Cinderella dolls which have appeared in Madame Alexander collections since 1937. In future years this Keepsake Ornament series will offer other designs from the “First Lady of Dolls.”
