Hallmark Introduces 2013 Event-Exclusive Keepsake Ornaments
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 27, 2013) — Hallmark continues its participation at the nation’s largest pop culture fan conventions with four Keepsake Ornaments exclusively developed for 2013 events.
Three ornament designs will be sold in limited quantities at Comic-Con International, to be held July 18-21 in San Diego, Calif., and at New York Comic Con, set for October 10-13 in New York City:
Wrath of the Rancor™, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™ – Created especially for event sales, this ornament captures Luke Skywalker’s struggle with the savage creature dwelling below Jabba the Hutt’s palace as seen in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™.
U.S.S. Kelvin™, STAR TREK™ – As featured in the 2009 Star Trek movie, this Federation starship exclusive is a “battle-scarred” variant of the same Keepsake Ornament available starting in July in Hallmark Gold Crown® stores.
Man of Steel, SUPERMAN™ – Inspired by this summer’s big-screen adventure of the same name, Superman is the subject of this event-exclusive Keepsake Ornament. Details and images of this ornament will be announced later this year.
At the D23 Expo 2013, slated for Aug. 9-11 in Anaheim, Calif., Hallmark will offer limited quantities of one design:
Cinderella’s Castle, Disney Cinderella – Featuring battery-operated light and sound, this exclusive Keepsake Ornament will boast a different look from the ornament available starting in July in Hallmark Gold Crown stores.
More information about Hallmark’s plans for these fan events will be announced closer to the respective dates.
Starting April 15, the 2013 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Dream Book showing this year’s entire line of Keepsake Ornaments will be available in Hallmark Gold Crown® stores and online at Hallmark.com.

Hallmark Announces Return to New York Comic Con
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct.5, 2012) – Hallmark announces its return to New York Comic Con International at the Javits Center (Oct. 11-14), the East Coast’s biggest popular culture convention. Attendees will have access to Comic Con-exclusive Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments, visits with a Keepsake Ornament artist and receive a sneak peek of products to be released in 2013.
During the convention, Hallmark will sell limited quantities of the following Keepsake Ornaments:
4-LOM and Zuckuss, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™ – This two-pack features the criminal droid 4-LOM and Gand tracking expert Zuckuss from “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™.” Created exclusively for event sales, 4-LOM and Zuckuss are the last bounty hunters depicted in the film to become Keepsake Ornaments. Limited run of 800 sets ($35 per set).
A Human Hero, Batman™ – This original sculpture is inspired by the 1986 DC comic-book masterpiece “The Dark Knight Returns.” This gritty Batman adventure helped to establish the more realistic and complex portrayal of the Dark Knight in modern media. Limited run of 700 Keepsake Ornaments ($25 each).
Cylon Centurion, Battlestar Galactica™ – In the classic 1978 TV series “Battlestar Galactica™”, Cylon Centurions relentlessly pursue the “ragtag” survivors of the twelve colonies of humanity across the reaches of space with a single goal: destroy all humanoids. This gold-painted variant of last year’s popular ornament is Hallmark’s first Comic-Con exclusive to feature sound. Limited run of 600 Keepsake Ornaments ($25 each).

Hallmark has produced exclusive Keepsake Ornaments in recent years for events including Comic-Con International, Star Wars Celebration VI, the National Barbie® Doll Collectors Convention and Disney’s D23 Expo.
Additional activities in Hallmark’s booth 1956 include:
- Keepsake Artist Nello Williams, the designer of the “Cylon Centurion” ornament, will be signing autographs on Oct. 12 from 1-3 p.m. and on Oct. 13 from Noon-2 p.m.
- “Santa” Vader will be making appearances for photo opportunities
- A series of collectible buttons will be available for fan pick-up. The series features five designs, with a limited quantity of one design given away each day of Comic-Con.

Celebrating its fifth year at Comic-Con, Hallmark will provide more than 100,000 attendees access to Comic-Con exclusive Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments, visits with a Keepsake Ornament artist and sneak peeks of products to be released in 2013.
During the convention, held July 11-15, 2012, Hallmark will sell limited quantities of the following Keepsake Ornaments:

Also making a return appearance are fan favorites hoops&yoyo. Creator Bob Holt will be in the booth with the hoops&yoyo characters, Thursday, July 12 (4-6 p.m.); Friday, July 13 (1-3 p.m.); and Saturday, July 14 (1-3 p.m.).
Attendees also can view many of the new 2012 Keepsake Ornaments, including Edward and Bella’s Wedding and The Amazing Spider-ManTM, as well as get a sneak peek of what’s to come in 2013. Attendees will have access to Comic Con-exclusive Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments and receive a sneak peek of product for 2012.
During the convention, Hallmark will sell limited quantities of the following Keepsake Ornaments:
U.S.S. Defiant, STAR TREK™ – The ill-fated U.S.S. Defiant is from the third-season episode “The Tholian Web” and celebrates the 45th anniversary of the original “Star Trek” television series. Based on a 2006 Keepsake Ornament of the U.S.S. Enterprise, it features luminescent paint that allows the ornament to glow green in the dark as seen in the fan-favorite episode.
Droids R2-Q5 and R2-A3, Star Wars™ – Fans of the iconic film series will recall the black-bodied R2-Q5 being assigned to the second Death Star as the red-trimmed R2-A3 flew along with X-wing starfighter pilot Wedge Antilles. The special-edition barrel-shaped Droids will be sold as a set.
This will mark the first year that Hallmark will create convention exclusive Keepsake Ornaments for New York Comic Con. Hallmark has produced exclusive Keepsake Ornaments in recent years for events including Comic Con International, Star Wars Celebration V, the National Barbie® Doll Collectors Convention and Disney’s D23 Expo.

A different design in the series will be given away each day of the convention in limited quantities.
Other activities include visits from Star Wars characters courtesy of the 501st Legion, a sneak peek of Hallmark’s Star Wars products planned for 2012 and fun giveaways.
