Artist Insight: In The Studio with Kristina Gaughran
Kristina Gaughran
Hallmark Artist
The Keepsake Studio caught up with Hallmark Artist Kristina Gaughran to talk about what’s ahead in 2026 and to share a look at an ornament she designed for this year.
The Perfect Tree
Playful Penguins
Kristina: “Sure, one of my favorites is The Perfect Tree. As I was concepting, I thought back to the first magic ornament I created with my penguins, where they were dancing around the tree. I started wondering—what if they brought that tree home—and if they did, what would it look like? This ornament tells that part of the story. I also wanted to add a little something special to the scene. I know we have some KOC members and collectors who hold a special place in their hearts for red birds, so I felt like that would be a sweet addition.”

2026 Sneak Peek: Just Chillin’
Just Chillin’
Here’s a frosty little sneak peek that puts a playful twist on a familiar sight.
This cleverly crafted ice machine ornament is reimagined as a winter wonderland in miniature. Topped with a bold “ICE” marquee and trimmed in cool blues and silvers, this classic freezer-front fixture looks ready to dispense cubes by the bagful. But peek through the frosted display window and you’ll find something even cooler inside.
Instead of stacks of ice, a cheerful snowman has made himself right at home. Bundled in a knit hat and cozy scarf, he stands proudly among icy evergreens, as if the machine itself has been keeping winter on tap. Swirling snowflakes and breezy details give the whole scene that just-opened-the-freezer chill—crisp, bright, and full of seasonal charm.
From the vented base to the side panel details, every element captures the look of a real ice vending machine, cleverly transformed into a storytelling showcase. It’s a fun blend of nostalgia and holiday magic—proof that even the most ordinary objects can become extraordinary when winter works its wonders.
Designed by Matt Johnson, this Keepsake Ornament features some pretty cool magic details. Check it out at Ornament Premiere in July and see the chill for yourself!

Whether you’ve been collecting from the start or just joined the fun, the 22nd installment is one you won’t want to miss.
Belle V. Holliday will be released in July—just in time for Ornament Premiere.
2026 Sneak Peek: Retro Halloween
Halloween Mischievous Kittens
Here’s a Friday the 13th sneak peek at an upcoming 2026 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament, full of Halloween fun and playful charm.
With bright green “brew” bubbling inside a textured black cauldron, this mischievous kitty looks ready to stir up a little seasonal magic. Peeking over the brim with wide green eyes and the sweetest smile, this feline friend sports a classic black witch hat trimmed in orange—purr-fectly dressed for a night of tricks, treats, and maybe a spell or two.
From the glossy potion to the sturdy three-legged cauldron, every detail adds a touch of spooky-cute personality. It’s a delightful piece that captures the lighthearted spirit of Halloween and makes a fun addition to your tree or festive décor.
Available beginning at Ornament Premiere in July.
