The on-line version of the 2011 Dream Book will be posted on KOCmembers.com on Thursday, April 7, 2011. (This is one week earlier than what was originally announced.)
Mystery Ornaments Return
Later this year, for the first time since 2003, Hallmark will be releasing “Mystery Ornaments.” Attendees of this years “KOC 25th Class Reunion” (the 2011 national event) may hear more about these ornaments during the “A Sneak Behind the Curtain” Sneak Peek seminar that will be held at the event.
UPDATE (08.07.11) – During the “A Sneak Behind the Curtain” seminars held during the KOC 25th Class Reunion event, Hallmark revealed the Frosty Mystery Ornaments that will be available later this year beginning Ornament Debut. These ornaments feature the shape of Frosty Friends, sculpted by Orville Wilson with three different designs; Hawaiian Frosty (with his eyes open) by Tom Best, Toymaker Santa by Ken Crow, and a penguin by Kristina Gaughran. The ornament will be blind boxed with a question mark on the box. You won’t know which one you are getting until after you have purchased it.
Tom has submitted six ideas (so far) of places Frosty could visit.
Mystery Ornament – An ornament whose identity is not revealed until just before it is available for purchase at local Gold Crown stores. In the past these ornaments have been released in conjunction with in-store events.
ADDITIONAL HISTORICAL INFORMATION
In 2003 Hallmark released three “Mystery Ornaments”: Glad Tidings (QRP4237) during ornament Premiere, Gift of Peace (QRP4249) for October Debut, and Gift of Love (QXC4299) as a KOC exclusive that was available for purchase in late October. All three of these angels were sculpted by Studio Artist Sue Tague and sold for $18.95 each. Additionally, Presents of Angels (WD2845), the miniature set of 6 ornaments given to KOC members for attending Ornament Premiere, coordinates with this collection and can be displayed on the brass arch display stands which were included with each ornament.
Announcement: Limited Quantity Ornament Program (UPDATED)
Starting in 2012, Hallmark is looking to “mix up” the Limited Quantity Ornament program. More information about what changes are in store will be revealed during the “A Sneak Behind the Curtain” Sneak Peek seminar that will be held during the “KOC 25th Class Reunion” (the 2011 national event).
UPDATE (08.07.11) – Information about the upcoming changes to the Limited Quantity Ornament program (starting in 2012) was not shared during the “A Sneak Behind the Curtain” seminars held during the “KOC 25th Class Reunion” event.
Limited Quantity Ornament – Ornaments that are produced at a fraction of the typical run quantities of a normal Keepsake ornament. Stores are only allocated a certain quantity and are not re-orderable. Typically, these ornaments are planned around key events such as Ornament Premiere, Ornament Debut and Holiday Open House.
Mary’s Angels 25th Anniversary
2012 will mark the 25th Anniversary of the ever popular “Mary’s Angels” series, thus becoming only the 4th series in Keepsake ornament history to make it this far. As such, look for Hallmark to acknowledge this milestone and celebrate the series longevity.
