Canadian Exclusive Ornaments
Ornaments–inspired by Canadian themes and icons–that are produced and distributed exclusively for the Canadian market.
NOTE: In 2016 Hallmark began offering the once exclusive Canadian designs to USA retailers.
Charter Member
A KOC member who has been a member of the national club since it originated in 1987.
The Keepsake Ornament Club (KOC) began as a grassroots effort by collectors who wanted as much information as possible on their favorite collectible, Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments.
In 1987, at the urging of passionate collectors, the Keepsake Ornament Collectors Club was formed.
Only those individuals who enrolled in the club in 1987 and have maintained their annual membership ever since are considered Charter Members.
Collectible Series
An on-going collection of ornaments representing a defined design or theme. Beginning in 1982, all ornaments in the Collector’s Series have been stamped with an identifying Christmas Tree symbol with the ornaments edition number printed in the tree to mark its position in the series. New series are started every year and other series may end. Series designs are offered one per year for a minimum of three years.
Easter series ornaments were marked with an Easter egg symbol.
Two series were ended prior to the third edition; Forever Friends in 2005 and African Holiday BARBIE™ in 1998.
Collection
A grouping of Hallmark Ornaments which have a common theme and are all released in the same year (unlike a collectible series, which is spread over several years).
Collectively Speaking
The local club newsletter for the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club. Issues were delivered either by email or in mailed local club correspondence (or both).
The first issue was published in June 1996 and was titled “LOCAL CLUB NEWS.”
The last Collectively Speaking published was the November 2017 issue.
Comic-Con (Comic-Con International)
An annual fan convention that was founded in 1970. It is traditionally a four-day event (Thursday through Sunday — though a four-hour preview night on Wednesday is open to professionals, exhibitors, and some guests pre-registered for all four days) held during the summer in San Diego, California, at the San Diego Convention Center. Originally showcasing comic books, science fiction/fantasy and film/television, and related popular arts, the convention has expanded over the years to include a larger range of pop culture elements, such as horror, anime, manga, animation, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novels. The convention is the largest in the Western Hemisphere.
Commemoratives
Ornaments, usually dated with the year, which celebrate special people (grandmother or sister) or special events (Anniversaries of Baby’s first birthday).
Collector Influenced Ornament
A co-created ornament, designed by a Keepsake studio artist based on feedback from Keepsake ornament fans.
