“This is the Duke of Winter, number three in my Nutcracker series. I’m real happy with how he came out, he’s got a little snow globe on the top of his head with a snowflake inside and I just think about the magic of Winter when the snows falling and I remember as a kid I always wish that I could just save a snowflake. So that’s kind of my ode to that. And he’s standing on an icy snowflake, and he’s holding a staff in his hand, which kind of is a nod to him reining over ice and snow, and his coat, these are actually some design elements that I looked through the Hallmark archive series for some artwork, and I liked them because they give a nod to trees. All the nutcrackers in this series, own their own domain, So this is the owner of ice and snow and Winter. Hopefully, when you take the Duke out of the box, you’ll be whisked away to that magical snowy, icy Winter wonderland that we all love.”
