In preparation for Christmas Eve, three little elves load Santa’s sleigh. One elf stands atop Santa’s sleigh and directs the loading of Santa’s leather sack while a teddy bear sneaks out of the open bag to catch a glimpse of the bunny cautiously sniffing a duck pull-toy that is resting in the snow. A wrapped gift, a toy barn, and a locomotive sit in the bag.

The second elf loads a wrapped gift onto the sleigh as the third inspects some reins while a bird and a bunny watch.

A puppy–sitting on a blanket on the seat, next to Santa’s book of Good Boys and Girls–hangs over the edge of the sleigh curiously watching a pair of chipmunks playing hide and seek among the sleigh runners.

A Victorian doll, a drum, and a top rests beside the sleigh waiting to be loaded. Six other toys (miniature ornaments) including: a police car, a horn, an airplane, a nutcracker, a rocking horse, and a ship are also ready to be added to the sack (or can be displayed separately.)

Just below the sleigh, a pair of bluebirds watch the whole scene.

Cinderella-1995

As a little girl living above her father’s doll “hospital,” Madame Alexander (Beatrix Alexander Behrman) became fascinated with fashion dolls at an early age. With her three sisters, she began designing handmade cloth dolls in the 1920s. By the 1930s, she was creating composition dolls with painted features and sleep eyes.

“Cinderella-1995” is the latest of the many lovely Cinderella dolls which have appeared in Madame Alexander collections since 1937. In future years this Keepsake Ornament series will offer other designs from the “First Lady of Dolls.”
