“Clickety-clack” around the track
the locomotive goes,
delighting little “engineers”
who stand on tippy-toes.
They’re pretty sure they’ll find their dream
beneath the Christmas tree.
’cause after all, they’ve been as good
as little kids can be!

Christmas Window–5th in the series

If you don’t already collect the Christmas Window series, Tammy Haddix gives you a reason to start with her charming design. “My two sons peek through this year’s window to watch a toy train,” says Tammy. Her boys aren’t the only personal touches. Tammy often sculpts her children into her work, but this train ornament is one she knows her family will particularly treasure. “I often think of the model train my Dad had in our basement,” she adds. “The train they’re watching runs through a mountain like his.”

Tammy points to fun details, like the copper roof and clapboard siding, before turning the ornament around to show shelves of miniature trains lined up inside the store for holiday shoppers. Each little extra touch from this gifted artist has made Christmas Window 2007 hard to resist.

Excerpted from: “Membership Ornaments offer three great choices,” For Keeps: Volume 6, Issue 1, March 2007”
