Fire engines have long captured our imaginations for the
excitement. heroism, and daring rescues we associate with
them. This 1961 GMC® pumper truck’s front-mounted,
engine-driven pump delivered up to 500 gallons of water
per minute. With its one-ton chassis and dual rear wheels,
it must have been easy to admire this powerful rig for its
considerable fire-fighting capabilities as well as its sturdy
good looks. This model was most likely to have been
found serving the citizens of small-town America.
