With its gracefully sweeping fenders, massive
front grille, and abundant chrome accents, this
1947 pickup marked the end of the Art Deco Era
in Chevrolet® truck design. Remembered as one
of the best-looking Chevy trucks ever, this
distinctive prewar model was taken out of
civilian production during World War II but
made a triumphant return afterward. Billed at
the time as America’s “Most Popular Pickup
Truck,” it was replaced (through not necessarily
outclassed) by the larger, more utilitarian
“Advanced Design Series” introduced later in
the same model year.
