She is especially drawn to folk art, bright colors, and whimsical styles. After she has thoroughly explored, discovered, and gathered ideas, Sharon returns to her workspace to bring all that inspiration to life!

Rodney Gentry appreciates the work that goes into a Keepsake Ornament well before any actual hands-on creation. “It’s a combination of engineering and artistry that starts with a lot of hard work up front. It’s not always an A to Z progression,” says Rodney. “You wear a lot of different hats—researcher, historian, engineer, craftsman—on the way to a completed piece that will be both true to life and emotionally satisfying.”

“This is Season’s Treatings #13, with this little cake cloché–where we can see through the different desserts inside. Some of these are from prior series: I got a little piece of pie, I got Christmas cookies, a chocolate cake, and some cupcakes. The thing I really love about this is, it’s just such a reminder to me about the old days of going to a diner where you hop up on the barstool and get to look at the desserts and choose which one you want. As a kid, I always love that, just sitting on the edge of the stool and looking at the glass cases, and being able to choose what dessert looks the best to you. So today, I’d probably go for the chocolate cake, just because I haven’t had lunch and chocolate’s looking pretty good to me. I hope you all enjoy Season’s Treatings #13.
